Tips for writing work Christmas cards

Keep it short. Two or three warm lines are plenty for a work card.

Personalise one line. A reference to a project, a shared joke or a thank-you makes it feel genuine.

Mind the audience. Use "season's greetings" or "happy holidays" if you are not sure someone celebrates Christmas.

Sign it properly. Your name, and your team or company for clients.

Post or hand out on time. Check the Christmas last posting dates if you are sending cards by post. For general wording, see what to write in a Christmas card.

What should I write in a Christmas card to a colleague?

Keep it short and warm: "Wishing you a relaxing Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year." Add one personal line, such as a thank-you for help on a project.

What do you write in a Christmas card to your boss?

Thank them and wish them a good break: "Thank you for your support and guidance this year. Merry Christmas and a restful break."

What is a professional Christmas message for clients?

"Thank you for working with us this year. Wishing you a peaceful festive season and a successful New Year."

Is it okay to say Merry Christmas at work?

Yes, but if you are not sure whether someone celebrates Christmas, "season's greetings" or "happy holidays" is a safe, friendly alternative.
