How to write a wedding card

Start with congratulations. Address both names and say how happy you are for them.

Add something personal. A memory, a compliment about them as a couple or a hope for their future.

Keep it positive. Avoid jokes about divorce, exes or "the end of freedom" — not everyone shares the same sense of humour on the day.

Sign off warmly. "With love", "Warmest wishes" or "Congratulations again" all work.

What do you write in a wedding card?

Congratulate the couple by name, add a personal line such as a memory or a wish for their future, and sign off warmly — for example "Congratulations on your wedding day! Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness."

What do you write in a wedding card with money?

Keep it light: "A little something towards your honeymoon — enjoy every minute" or "Please treat yourselves to something special for your new home."

What should you not write in a wedding card?

Avoid jokes about divorce, exes or losing freedom, and do not mention the cost of the wedding or your gift.
